The European Commission has announced a simplification package for the EUDR and published a draft delegated act. In addition to the simplifications, the proposal also includes an extension of the scope of the EUDR to new products, including cosmetics such as soaps containing palm oil.
A public consultation is currently underway and will last four weeks. It is worth noting that the cosmetics industry intends to vigorously defend its opposition.
Entities marketing cosmetic products should monitor the status and content of the proposal. If the industry fails to defend cosmetic products, businesses will have a number of additional requirements to meet.
